[feeling | hot]

This morning I went to the Royal Albert Hall to be boiled alive. Gosh, it's unpleasantly hot today.

Anyway, the Doctor Who Prom was so cool and so exciting and there were DALEKs and Donna and Davros and yay!

The music was fantastic, I suppose it's written to be epic and dramatic on screen, so it felt epic and dramatic in such an impressive setting. And I hope all classical concerts have cybermen wandering about in the audience.

I've not been to the Royal Albert Hall before but it's beautiful and I'm going to build a full size replica of it out the side of my flat because it's cool.

I decided that it was better to politely ask the couple sitting next to me to stop talking all the way through the concert than to spend the next week feeling resentful and the horrid woman told me nastily that if I didn't want to listen to them talking, I could go outside. It's ok to talk all the way through a concert is it? And to respond to perfectly reasonable requests with excessive, unnecessary rage? I'll just remember to shut up next time.

"Do I spy a big fat Welshman?" said Mr W. He wasn't referring to himself, RTD was in the audience. Freema Agyeman presented and she was giddy and fluffed her lines quite a lot. There were also blink and you'll miss them appeances from Jackie, Micky and Donna.

John Simm was rumoured to be in the audience but we decided this wasn't true on the grounds that he might:

1. Be spoken to by a Doctor Who fan
2. Be spoken to by anyone who likes his work
3. Be spoken to by anyone.

I was quite excited that someone in the orchestra appeared to be playing a billiard table covered in Victorian plumbing.

I imagine it sounds every bit as gorgeous on the radio, I will be listening again later in the week.

That instrument you described seems plausible. THE TALKING WOMAN IS HORRIBLE.

Agree with all of this. She was horrid. I think there should be more orchestras where people just make their own instruments and turn up.

The Albert Hall is TOO HOT. I don't know how all those Victorians didn't boil alive, with all their clothes on at once, and no air conditioning.

It is a lovely, lovely building though.

People who talk through concerts deserve to be FLAYED. It is SO RUDE, not just to the people who've paid to go and listen to the performance, but also to the people who are performing. If you want to have a chat, go and stand in the corridor! Or go to the pub! It is NEVER acceptable to talk through a concert. STUPID WOMAN.

*ahem*

Sorry.

Being boiled alive in my own house has apparently hit my ANGRY BUTTON today. Wah!

Ooh, thank you very much for posting about this. I did not know what a prom was (I'm in U.S.). Now I've got 3 days left to listen.

Thanks again!! :D
