Oh dear, mushrooms.

I made a video of myself trying a mushroom last night but I didn’t blog it because I only filmed the first bit where I put the mushroom in my mouth and chewed it a bit and nothing happened. It was boring.

Then I turned the camera off.

Then I got the boggy aftertaste and I chewed and chewed but couldn’t get it down bleugh and gag. And bleugh. And gag. And bleugh.

Also I really struggled to peel the mushroom – I’ve seen my mum peel them – Are they peelable?

My baked butternut squash with rice and tomatoes turned out to be very bland. Shame we’re having the left over rice and tomatoes for lunch really.

I’m going to try cooking a mushroom tonight. *sigh* I think I might have to try the 21 times thing, where you try something 21 times and get used to it. I might even swallow a bit.

Is it true that it's possible to travel by sea-slug from London to Northhamptonshire?

No. Sea-slugs are only electrified as far north as Bedford.

Suggestions with mushrooms:
1. LOTS of garlic butter...
2. (if you have the patience) Fry up finely chopped onions, breadcrumbs and mint, pop a couple of portabello mushrooms (the big ones) on a baking tray and spoon over the onion/breadcrumb/mint mix. If you like mozerella you can pop some of that over them too. Top with a little olive oil and bake in the oven at 200C/400F/Gas 6 for 10-15 mins.
